Lance HK (lance.hk) is Lance's personal website. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you.
You can read the website without signing in. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or profiling services.
Information we collect
Account information
If you choose to sign in, you must use one of the supported OAuth providers. We request only the access needed to identify your account and support commenting:

We receive and use the following information:

Profile name and username: Used to identify your account and displayed with your comments.

Avatar: Downloaded from your OAuth provider, resized and cropped, then stored on our server for display with your comments.

Profile URL: Displayed with your comments as a link to your profile on the OAuth provider.

Email address: Used as a verified contact channel. Your email address is not displayed publicly, and we will not email you without your consent.
GitHub, GitLab, or Codeberg may process information when you use their sign-in service. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.
Comments
When you post a comment, we store both the original Markdown, so it can be edited, and the rendered HTML, so it can be displayed. Your comment and the public account details described above are visible to anyone who visits the page.
Comments are retained until you edit them or ask us to remove them.
IP addresses
We temporarily process your IP address to enforce request rate limits and protect the website from abuse. IP addresses used for this purpose are not retained for more than one hour.
Cookies
When you sign in, we store a cookie named session in your browser to keep you signed in and identify your session.
The session is refreshed when you return within 30 days. It expires after 30 days of inactivity.
How we use and share information
We use personal information only to:
